MystereBooks: Out-of-Print Crime Fiction, New in eBooks from Bloomsbury

MystereBooks: Mystery, Suspense, and Thriller eBooks

Bloomsbury has lowered the price on a large number of long out-of-print crime fiction recently re-released as ebooks to just $1.99.

Authors represented include Jane Aiken Hodge, Nicholas Blake — the pen name used by Cecil Day-Lewis for his mystery novels, Edmund Crispin — the pseudonym under which Robert Bruce Montgomery wrote crime novels, Margery Allingham, H. R. F. Keating, and more.

Use this link to see just those Kindle ebooks classified by Amazon as "mystery". Use this more general link to see all "genre" books (as some are clearly crossover titles).

These are almost certainly temporary price reductions, so if any of these authors are of interest to you, we urge you to check out the selection of $1.99 titles soon!

Telemystery: Justified Season 4 Premieres January 8th, 2012

Telemystery: Mystery and Suspense on Television

FX Networks announced today that the fourth season of Justified would premiere on Tuesday, January 8th, 2012 at 10 PM ET/PT.

Last season, Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens (Timothy Olyphant) faced off against dirty politics, hidden fortunes, a mysterious criminal ringleader named Limehouse, and Quarles, an ambitious gangster from the underbelly of Motor City. This season, Raylan will start to pick at the thread of a cold case over 30 years in the making, unraveling a riddle that echoes all the way back to his boyhood and his criminal father's bad dealings. Meanwhile, Boyd Crowder (Walton Goggins) finds his grip on Harlan loosening due to a Pentecostal preacher with a penchant for theatrics and a knack for manipulation to rival his own.

Justified is based on a character created by crime novelist Elmore Leonard.

Two stand-alone thrillers by David Corbett, first published by Ballantine in 2007 and 2010, are also being released.

Finally, there are three "Sarah Kelling and Max Bittersohn" mysteries and one stand-alone novel by Charlotte MacLeod. This the third batch of books by this author being released by Mysterious Press; see our previously announced list of titles here and here.

We're providing a list of all books below, sorted by author, with a synopsis from one of each.

Telemystery: Two More Jeffrey Archer Novels to be Adapted for Television

Telemystery: Mystery and Suspense on Television

Earlier this year we reported that Jeffrey Archer's 2006 stand-alone crime thriller False Impression was being adapted for film. Now we're learning that New Franchise, which owns the rights to the book, is leaning towards developing a television drama to take advantage of the multiple and intersecting character-driven storylines. (More details on the book, below.)

New Franchise is also looking to adapt the second "Kane and Abel" novel by Archer as a series as well. Published in 1982, The Prodigal Daughter follows a multi-generational family feud involving power and politics.

Neither adaptation is as yet associated with a network.

These projects are separate from another from NBC. The network is adapting the author's 1998 political thriller The Eleventh Commandment, which is in the pilot script stage.

MystereBooks: Dark Hollow, the 2nd Charlie Parker Mystery by John Connolly, Now Available at a Special Price

MystereBooks: Mystery, Suspense and Thriller eBooks

John Connolly introduced former NYPD homicide detective Charlie "Bird" Parker in the 1999 mystery Every Dead Thing, a book that went on to win several awards including the 2000 Shamus Award for Best First P.I. Novel.

Now the publisher, Simon & Schuster, has discounted the ebook format of the second in the series, Dark Hollow, to just $3.99 for a limited time only. Read more about the book and available purchase options below.

Cinemystery: DreamWorks to Option Film Rights to The Light Between Oceans

Cinemystery: Crime Novels Adapted for Film

The film rights to M. L. Stedman's debut psychological novel of suspense — and long-running bestseller — The Light Between Oceans is expected to be won by DreamWorks.

"I was deeply affected by M. L. Stedman's powerful and primal story of human choices and their consequences," said David Heyman, who will produce the film. "It's a novel which tackles grand emotions, but everything is rooted within an intimate yet universal story of marital and parental love."

Set on a remote island off the coast of Australia after the end of World War I, the storyline follows a couple, who find a baby adrift and decide to raise the little girl as their own. (More about the book, below.)
