Telemystery: Netflix Orders 4th Season of The Killing

Telemystery: Mystery and Suspense on Television

The Killing — the murder mystery that was canceled by AMC after frustrating viewers by extending its first season storyline into a second season, but then renewed for a third season promising to resolve a new storyline in a single season, only to be canceled again — has received a 6-episode fourth (and final?) season order from Netflix.

The two lead actors — Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman — will return but unfortunately so too will showrunner Veena Sud, who was responsible for making the decision not to reveal — as promised by all the promotional material for the show — whodunit at the end of the first season.

"The rich, serialized storytelling in The Killing thrives on Netflix, and we believe that it is only fitting to give Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder a proper send-off," said Cindy Holland, VP Original Content for Netflix. AMC is not involved in this fourth season.

No word on when production of the fourth season would begin.
