After airing a single episode -- albeit multiple times -- HBO has renewed its new series Game of Thrones for a second season.
Adapted from the "A Song of Ice and Fire" fantasy/adventure books by George R. R. Martin, the current season is based on the first book in the series, A Game of Thrones. Next season is expected to be based on the second book, A Clash of Kings.
