Mysteria Film Group Options Rights to Adventure Game MYST

Myst

MYST: The Motion Picture has been in development for years. Cyan Worlds, the creator of the immensely popular adventure game, has a project summary on the film's website dating back to 2006. Now, it appears the project has taken a substantial step forward towards reality.

Deadline is reporting, and the games developer is confirming, that the Mysteria Film Group has optioned the film rights. With several games in the series as well as three tie-in novels, there is a wealth of material from which to draw.

"Our aim with this project is to stretch the genres it operated within, much like the source material did," Adrian Vanderbosch of Mysteria said. "It is such an innovative property and by utilizing the novels as our primary resource, we have the opportunity to offer audiences the essence of MYST without being limited only to the famous island of the first game. Our focus has always been on creating an entirely new visual experience driven by engaging characters and an epic narrative."
