Badazz Bolderjack and the Octopus Hook Murders by Terry Rich Hartley

Badazz Bolderjack and the Octopus Hook Murders
Terry Rich Hartley
A Gus Bolderjack Mystery
Publisher: Terry Rich Hartley

Psychotherapist Gus Bolderjack was an excellent profiler who couldn't stay out of the action. He'd bait serial killers into stalking him, and then snare them by hook or by crook. Labeled hero by some and psycho shrink by others, one thing was clear: his methods worked. After losing a feud with U. S. Attorney Carrie Sullivan-Bledsoe over a murderer's plea bargain he leaves the field to join his lover in her high-end Sun Valley resort clinic, tending to the emotional needs of the rich and richer. That works for a while until Sullivan-Bledsoe, now a state attorney general, loses her son to a kidnapper at nearly the same time a powerful tabloid publisher's niece is also kidnapped.

Bolderjack, sucked into the fray, gets shot in both legs before he makes his first move. Turns out, the kids are bait and he's actually the target of two gruesome serial killers sharing goals and maybe DNA. If that's not bad enough, he finds himself in a universe ruled by political ambition and intriguing, double-dealing characters, including those he's trying to help. The further he pushes into the web the more venom he encounters and the more he has to face his own shortcomings. Where once it seemed like he could step into murderers' minds, now they seem to slither into his.

Discretion
Allison Leotta
An Anna Curtis Thriller
Touchstone

When a beautiful young woman plummets to her death from the balcony of the U.S. Capitol, Assistant U.S. Attorney Anna Curtis is summoned to the scene. The evidence points to a sexual assault and murder. The victim is one of the city's highest-paid escorts. And the balcony belongs to Washington, D.C.'s sole representative to Congress, the most powerful figure in city politics.

The Congressman proclaims his innocence, but he's in the middle of a tough primary fight, and the scandal could cost him the election. For Anna, the high-profile case is an opportunity. But as the political stakes rise, she realizes that a single mistake could end her career.

At the same time, her budding romance with Jack Bailey, the chief homicide prosecutor, is at a crossroads. Determined to gain respect in the office, Anna wants to keep their relationship under wraps. But the mounting pressure and media attention that come with the office's most important case will inevitably expose their relationship—if it doesn't destroy it first.

The investigation leads Anna to Discretion, a high-end escort service that caters to D.C.'s elite. But with each break in the case, the mystery deepens. And the further Anna ventures into D.C.'s red-light underworld, the larger the target on her own back.

The third season of The Killing premieres tomorrow, Sunday June 3rd, 2013 at 8 PM ET/PT on AMC with a special two hour episode.

A millennium later, Somali pirates hijack a yacht off the coast of the Horn of Africa, kidnapping a young pregnant American woman. For this unique mission, SIGMA is aided by a pair of special operatives with unique talents: former Army Ranger Captain Tucker Wayne and his military war dog, Kane.
