Telemystery: HBO Renews True Blood for a 7th Season

HBO has renewed True Blood for a seventh season.

"True Blood remains a signature show for HBO, and a true phenomenon with our viewers," said HBO programming president Michael Lombardo. "Thanks to [showrunner] Brian Buckner and his talented team, the show continues to be a thrill ride like nothing else on TV."

Based on the Southern Vampire mysteries by Charlaine Harris, the True Blood stars Anna Paquin as the lead series character, telepathic barmaid Sookie Stackhouse.

Telemystery: ABC Family Cancels The Lying Game

ABC Family has canceled The Lying Game after two seasons.

Adapted from the young adult thriller of the same title by Sara Shepard, Alexandra Chando — who broke the news via Twitter — stars as Emma, a foster kid who learns she has an identical twin sister, Sutton (also played by Chandro). After their initial meeting, Sutton talks Emma into stepping into her life for a few days while she pursues a lead on the mysterious identity of their birth mother.

Veronica Mars to be Featured in New Mystery Book Series

Vintage Books, an imprint of Random House, has announced that Veronica Mars creator Rob Thomas will write a two-book series that continues the adventures of Nepture's resident detective.

The first currently untitled book is scheduled to be published in February 2014, with a storyline that is expected to be a continuation of that presented in the film currently in production at Warner Bros. (The current synopsis on the publisher's website reads, "The first book in an original mystery series featuring twenty-eight-year-old Veronica Mars, back in action after the events of Veronica Mars: The Movie. With the help of old friends — Logan Echolls, Mac Mackenzie, Wallace Fennel, and even Dick Casablancas — Veronica is ready to take on Neptune's darkest cases with her trademark sass and smarts."

"I started my career as a novelist," said Thomas. "Veronica Mars was first imagined as a novel. I'm thrilled that I'm going to get the opportunity to continue telling Veronica Mars stories in a form I've loved and missed."
