A New, Possibly International, Poster for Hitchcock
A new poster for Hitchcock has been released by the studio and posted to the film's Facebook page over the weekend. The tagline: "The untold story behind the film that shocked the world."
This poster is so different from the striking red background posters (here and here) of recent weeks that we're not altogether certain who the target audience is. It also shows a February 6th date, and the only two countries that have scheduled this date for a premiere of the film are Belgium and the Phillippines. If anyone knows for sure, please leave a comment!
Directed by Sacha Gervasi from an screenplay written by John J. McLaughlin and based on a book Alfred Hitchcock and the Making of Psycho by Stephen Rebello, Hitchcock will be in limited release here in the US on November 23rd, 2012.
MystereBooks: Special Kindle eBook Pricing for Lucy Guardino FBI Thrillers by CJ Lyons
Crime novelist CJ Lyons has announced a "Holiday Sale" for the three books in her Lucy Guardino FBI thriller series: 99 cents for the first in the series, $2.99 for the other two.
Lyons provides this warning to readers: "The Lucy Guardino FBI Thrillers are NOT for the faint of heart! They depict adult situations, realistic violence with consequences, and delve deep into the darkness of the human heart and mind."
There is no mention from the author of an end date — and the offer appears to be Kindle format only; it is not available elsewhere — so if any of these titles are of interest to you and you have a Kindle, we suggest you act soon! As always, prices are subject to change without notice. The price displayed on the vendor website at the time of purchase will be the price paid for the book. Please confirm the price of the book before completing your transaction.

Cinemystery: TWC Acquires US Film Rights to Sci-Fi Thriller, Snow Piercer
The Weinstein Company has acquired the US distribution rights to Snow Piercer, a sci-fi thriller adapted from the French graphic novel Transperceneige by Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette.
Directed by Bong Joon-ho (of South Korea) and co-written by Bong and Kelly Masterson, the film stars Chris Evans, Jamie Bell, Alison Pill, John Hurt, Tilda Swinton, Octavia Spencer, Song Kang-ho and Ed Harris. Filmed earlier this year in the Czech Republic, it marks Bong's English-language debut.
Transperceneige was first serialized in 1983 in the magazine À Suivre, and published as a single volume in 1984 by Casterman. Casterman re-released the graphic novel in 2000 when two sequels were written (by Benjamin Legrand and Jean-Marc Rochette).
The storyline tells of a massive train, a thousand cars long, on which the last people of civilization ride after the world has been buried in snow. The train, which simply circles the globe, runs on a limitless power source ensuring the survival of its passengers. Over time, however, this closed world begins to separate into social and economic classes, the haves at the front and the have-nots at the rear. A man named Proloff begins a journey from his place at the back, moving forward, trying to understand how this all came about.
Snow Piercer is expected to open in US theaters Summer 2013.
Games of Mystery Review: Mystery Case Files — 13th Skull
I really enjoyed playing Mystery Case Files — 13th Skull. The premise is solid, the storyline is well developed, and there is a good balance of difficulty in the gameplay. The incorporation of real actors via full motion video is an innovative touch that enhances more than it detracts. This is among the best hidden object/adventure games I've played and I can enthusiastically recommend it.

Back in May mystery author Sophie Littlefield announced that she would begin a new series featuring "thirty-ish Joe Bashir, a hunky Pakistani-American detective in an affluent suburb of San Francisco." (Littlefield also writes the Stella Hardesty mysteries.) Here's how she described the new series at the time: "I don't have many details yet, but let me share the pitch for the book. If you're wondering where it fits in the Littlefield imagin-o-rama, I'd say the Joe books are more procedural and 'serious' than the Stella series."
Well, the details are available now! The first book in this new series, Blood Bond, is published next week, and the publisher, Pocket Star (Simon & Schuster), has set the pre-order ebook price to just $1.99 for a limited time only from the vendors listed below.
