Winners of the 2016 Arthur Ellis Awards Announced

Mystery, Suspense and Thriller Book Awards

The winners of the 2016 Arthur Ellis Awards were announced earlier this week by the Crime Writers of Canada recognizing excellence in Canadian crime writing.

And they are …

• Best Crime Novel: Open Season by Peter Kirby (Linda Leith Publishing)

• Best First Crime Novel: The Unquiet Dead by Ausma Zehanat Khan (Minotaur Books)

• Best Crime Novel in French: L'Affaire Myosotis by Luc Chartrand (Quebec Amerique)

• Best Crime Non-Fiction: Empire of Deception by Dean Jobb (HarperCollins)

• Best Juvenile/Young Adult Crime Book: Trouble is a Friend of Mine by Stephanie Tromly (Kathy Dawson Books)

• Best Crime Short Story: "The Avocado Kid" by Scott Mackay (Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine)

• Best Unpublished First Novel, the "Unhanged Arthur": When the Flood Falls by Jayne Barnard

• Best Novella: Black Canyon by Jeremy Bates (Ghillinnein Books)
