Universal Pictures has released a new poster (right; click for slightly larger image) and trailer (below) for the fifth Bourne film simply titled Jason Bourne. It is the fourth to feature Matt Damon as the character created by Robert Ludlum; he skipped the most recent release, The Bourne Legacy, which starred Jeremy Renner as Aaron Cross.
Little is known about the plotline of Jason Bourne. The official announcement simply states that the film "finds the CIA's most lethal former operative drawn out of the shadows." Last year Damon said, "Without giving too much of it away, it's Bourne through an austerity-riddled Europe and in a post-Snowden world. It seems like enough has changed, you know? There are all these kinds of arguments about spying and civil liberties and the nature of democracy."
With an original screenplay (not based on any of Ludlum's books) by Paul Greengrass (who also directed) and Christopher Rouse, Jason Bourne opens in theaters on July 29th, 2016.
