When landscape gardener Rachel O'Connor is offered the job of restoring the gardens of a famous botanist to their original glory, it seems like the perfect job. After all, any plant-lover would love to get their hands on the fading grandeur of the gardens around Eloise Johnston's home in Portland, Oregon. As if that were not temptation enough, Eloise offers Rachel a large budget and seems to be in a great hurry for her to take on the job.
But no sooner does she do so, than the aged lady winds up dead in her own creek. An accident? Homicide detective Lieutenant Spiros, on the scene in a flash, certainly doesn't seem to think so. Soon things take an even darker turn when one of Eloise's trusted employees finds herself in the frame for murder — although Rachel is certain she is innocent.
