Britain's Minister of Defence — Charles Wilson MP — suspects that someone is going to kill him. He needs to get his affairs in order in the eventuality that they succeed. He enlists the services of Moon, Telford & Co., London's most reputable Private Law firm. Sir Robert Moon, the firm's illustrious senior partner, turns to his trusted and promising young employee — David Ross — to look after the Minister.

Before he knows it, David becomes entangled in an intricate web of lies, deceit and scandalous skulduggery. He is slowly embroiled into a plot that threatens to derail his career, threaten his freedom and destroy his life. As he approaches the point of no return, his sense of duty and his unshakeable moral principles drive him forwards in the search for the truth. Working alongside the brilliant and beautiful barrister Charlotte De Courcey, David uncovers layer after layer of sleaze.

Is it true that the minister has had "dangerous liaisons" with a string of eligible women? Why is his wife so desperately and publicly inebriated? Why does she spit insults so indiscriminately? What really happened to their son in Marrakesh? Who is following David in the shadowy backstreets of London? What really goes on at the mysterious Wellheld Clinic? Where does the hackneyed journalist Bob Derek find his information and who is the thug with the dagger tattoo?
