Winners of the 2014 Shamus Awards Announced

Mystery, Suspense and Thriller Book Awards

The winners of the 2014 Shamus Awards have been announced by the Private Eye Writers of America … and they are …

• Best Hardcover PI Novel: The Good Cop [Carter Ross] by Brad Parks (Minotaur Books)

• Best First PI Novel: Bear is Broken [Leo Maxwell] by Lachlan Smith (Mysterious Press)

• Best Paperback Original PI Novel: Heart of Ice [Louis Kincaid] by P. J. Parrish (Pocket Books)

• Best PI Short Story: "So Long, Chief" by Max Allan Collins and Mickey Spillane (The Strand Magazine)

• Best Indie PI Novel: Don't Dare a Dame [Maggie Sullivan] by M. Ruth Myers (Tuesday House)

Also, the winner of the annual Best Private Eye Novel Contest, co-sponsored by the PWA and Minotaur Books (St. Martin' Press) is The Red Storm by Grant Bywaters.
