The winners of the 2014 Macavity Awards were announced last night by the Mystery Readers International and chosen by its members in several categories.
And the winners are …

• Best First Mystery Novel: A Killing at Cotton Hill by Terry Shames (Seventh Street Books)
• Best Mystery-Related Non-Fiction: The Hour of Peril: The Secret Plot to Murder Lincoln Before the Civil War by Daniel Stashower (Minotaur Books)
• Best Mystery Short Story: "The Care and Feeding of Houseplants" by Art Taylor (Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, March/April 2013)
• Sue Feder Historical Memorial Award: Murder as a Fine Art by David Morrell (Little, Brown)
