Telemystery: Mystery and Suspense on Television

ABC is developing a crime drama based on a character created by Swedish novelist Liza Marklund.

According to Deadline, the unnamed series is centered on crime reporter Annika Bengtzon and will be written by Charles Randolph for Universal Television.

Annika Bengtzon was introduced in 1998 in Sprängaren, which was first published in the US in 2001 as The Bomber. (More about the book, below).

The Bomber was adapted into a Swedish-language theatrical film in 2001 and was followed up two years later with another adaptation of a book in the series, Paradise. The other six series titles were optioned by Yellow Bird and filmed as made-for-television movies in Sweden.
