The real problem with this action film is two-fold: a poorly imagined and constructed storyline, and the lack of understanding by the director of who John McClane is. Bruce Willis's performance is subpar, but well-balanced by Jai Courtney playing his son. If the franchise were to continue with him taking over, his introduction here would probably be the best thing to come of this film.
