The Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Writing Festival opened yesterday in Harrogate and, as is tradition, the winner of the 2013 Theakstons Old Peculier Crime Novel of the Year was announced.
And it is Gods and Beasts, the third "Alex Morrow" mystery by Denise Mina. Mina also won last year with The End of the Wasp Season.
Ruth Rendell was also honored with the Outstanding Contribution to Crime Fiction Award.
