The popular web-based teen series Ruby Skye P.I. has been exclusively licensed by CBC in a multi-platform deal for the Canadian market. The producers anticipate a deal for the US soon.
This fast-paced and funny mystery series follows smart, stubborn, and quick-thinking teenage detective Ruby Skye (Madison Cheeatow), as she finds her way into the middle of the most baffling mysteries. With reluctant help from tech-savvy sister Hailey (Marlee Maslove), Ruby often lands in hot water before finding herself en route to a magnificent solution.
The entire series will premiere online at Kids' CBC in Winter 2014, followed by broadcasts on CBC-TV. Between episodes, the audience can participate online through a host of activities, allowing viewers to solve the mystery along with trusted sleuth Ruby.
The first season of the series, which centered on a single case and was titled "The Spam Scan", premiered on YouTube in Fall 2010. A second season — "The Haunted Library" — followed in Fall 2012. A third season is currently in production.
