We forgot to mention yesterday that there are two premieres tonight on TNT: the second season of Major Crimes and the debut of King & Maxwell, which is based on characters created by crime novelist David Baldacci.
As the second season of Major Crimes opens — with an episode titled "Final Cut" — the Los Angeles Police Department's Major Crimes division immediately dives into some of the most challenging and fascinating crimes yet, including the murder of a big-time film producer's wife, an apparent murder-suicide and a LAPD ride-along that leads to a startling discovery. Right when the squad seemed to be adjusting to last year's leadership change, a new Deputy District Attorney, Emma Rios (new regular Nadine Velazquez), arrives to challenge Raydor's intentions and shake up the department. Torn between what is morally right and what the law commands, Raydor and her team are faced with more struggles than ever as they continue to make deals and crack cases.
The pilot of King & Maxwell introduces Sean King (Jon Tenney) and Michelle Maxwell (Rebecca Romijn), a couple that aren't your typical private investigators. Both are former Secret Service agents, and their unique skills — not to mention their razor-sharp chemistry — give them a leg up on conventional law enforcement. In the series opener, when a lawyer friend of Sean's is mysteriously murdered, Sean decides to represent an autistic savant and accused serial killer his friend was defending in hopes of discovering what happened to him. Together, King and Maxwell discover a possible plot that has political repercussions.
Major Crimes airs tonight at 9 PM ET/PT on TNT with King & Maxwell following at 10 PM ET/PT.
