Image Comics has announced that the Moriarty series of comics will be released as a single, deluxe hardcover volume in May, 2013.
Written by Daniel Corey and Anthony Diecidue and based on a character created by Arthur Conan Doyle, the 9-issue series is divided into two parts: "The Dark Chamber" and "The Lazarus Tree" (already available separately as trade paperbacks).
It is the dawn of World War I, and Sherlock Holmes has been dead for 20 years. Professor James Moriarty is a lost man, but he's called back into the fray when MI5 blackmails him into finding Holmes' long-lost brother, Mycroft. What at first appears to be a routine case leads to a web of intrigue that involves a psychic box and its creator, a woman from Moriarty's past, and a new villain that threatens to be greater than Moriarty ever was.
Last year, Corey announced he was teaming up with Raymond Schnurr to bring the first story arc — "The Dark Chamber" — to the stage as a musical along the lines of Les Misérables, Sweeny Todd and Phantom of the Opera. However, we haven't heard much about this project recently so aren't quite sure at what stage, as it were, it may be in.
