Cinemystery: First Trailer for The Hunger Games — Catching Fire

Cinemystery: Crime Novels Adapted for Film

The first trailer for The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire has been released by the studio; we've embedded it below.

The film opens as Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson). Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a "Victor's Tour" of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow (Donald Sutherland) prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) — a competition that could change Panem forever.

Directed by Francis Lawrence from an adapted screenplay by Michael Arndt, and based on the novel by Suzanne Collins, Catching Fire opens in theaters November 22nd, 2013.

Catching Fire
Suzanne Collins
The Hunger Games Trilogy (2nd in series)

Against all odds, Katniss Everdeen has won the annual Hunger Games with fellow district tribute Peeta Mellark. But it was a victory won by defiance of the Capitol and their harsh rules. Katniss and Peeta should be happy. After all, they have just won for themselves and their families a life of safety and plenty.

But there are rumors of rebellion among the subjects, and Katniss and Peeta, to their horror, are the faces of that rebellion.

The Capitol is angry. The Capitol wants revenge.
