ABC is developing a project based on the Dutch psychological thriller Vuurzee … which translates as Conflagration, but is literally Sea of Fire. Vuurzee, which ran for two seasons in The Netherlands, is set in the fictional resort community of Boedzand and centers around the disappearance of a teenaged girl, an event that polarizes the town. Dutch press reports on the series liken it to another ABC series, Twin Peaks, which aired for two seasons in the early 1990s.
Deadline reports that Steve Maeda (The X-Files) will write the pilot and executive produce.
Watch a 90-second promo for the second season of Vuurzee, produced by VARA, the Dutch network that aired the series.
