Cinemystery News: Jack Ryan to Appear in 2013 but Lisbeth Salander Delayed to 2014

Mystery, Suspense and Thriller Film News

Yesterday we wrote a summary of the current state of the "Jack Ryanverse", a term usually applied to Robert Ludlum's books in which the character appears, but one increasingly used to describe the four exisiting films — and any future films — featuring the character.

Today we're learning that Paramount is confident enough to talk about a release date for the fifth film — 4th Quarter 2013 — under the working title Jack Ryan.

A film that won't be released in 2013 is the English-language sequel to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. Steven Zaillian is still working on the script, adapted from the second book in the "Millennium Trilogy", The Girl Who Played with Fire by Stieg Larsson. Too, Sony Pictures appears to be in no hurry to get the film in theaters. Daniel Craig (as Mikael Blomkvist) and Rooney Mara (as Lisbeth Salander) are expected to reprise their roles. The original Swedish-language film had the two in separate storylines, rarely sharing time together on screen. It will be interesting to see what changes, if any, Zaillian makes to allow them to interact more here.
