About the author: The Inspector and Silence was originally published in 1997 under the title Kommissarien och tystnaden. Håkan Nesser's first crime novel, Det grovmaskiga natet, published in 1993, won the Swedish Crime Academy's award for the best debut work in the genre. He has since gone on to win several other awards for the books in this series. He currently lives in Sweden and London.
