In what must be the understatement of the century, Detective Chief Inspector Barnaby turns to his Detective Sergeant in an episode included in this DVD set and says, "You see, Jones, you look at this, you'd think you were in some kind of rural paradise. But how wrong you'd be." That comment pretty much sums up not only this set, but of the series as a whole. Midsomer Murders is one of the most consistently entertaining crime dramas currently being produced, and the episodes presented here are representative of this fine series.
