The literary quality of this work cannot be denied, it is an exceptionally well written book; but the story here is so pedestrian, and so drawn out, that it feels many times longer than it really is. Indeed, for all practical purposes, it is not a sequel to The Ghosts of Belfast, but a novel-length epilogue.
