Reviews of Mystery and Suspense Books for Kids, New This Week on Book Trends (101023)

Book Trends: Reviews of Young Adult and Children Books

Book Trends, a review site for young adult and children books, published several new book reviews this past week. We're presenting here a summary of those in the mystery/suspense/thriller category.

Over the Edge by Norah McClintock. A Chloe & Levesque mystery (1st in series), recommended for readers aged 10 to 12. Lexile measure: 690L. Reviewed by a 6th grade student, who writes, "I enjoyed this book because of its suspense and excitement. It’s very hard to stop reading once you get into the middle of the book. ... The ending was very surprising, and I could not believe it."

A Taste for Red by Lewis Harris. A stand-alone novel for readers aged 10 to 12. Lexile measure: 720L. Reviewed by a 6th grade student, who writes, "What I like about this book is how the author has Svetlana talk directly to the reader. Svetlana basically narrates the book. I like how she interrupts her conversation with someone else in the book and talks to you. Honestly, I liked almost everything about the book."
