Film Clip from The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, and Interview with the Director, on the WSJ

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson

Last Friday, the Wall Street Journal published an exclusive clip from the film based on the bestselling thriller The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson as well as an interview with the director. The film opens in the US on March 19, 2010.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is the first book in the "Millennium" trilogy by Larsson, who died before any of the books had been published. The central characters are investigative journalist Mikael Blomkvist and world-class computer hacker Lisbeth Salander. (In our review of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, we called the book "Swedish noir at its best.")

In the book, Blomkvist is hired to get to the bottom of the disappearance -- and possible murder -- of a Harriet Vanger, a young woman from one of the wealthiest families in Sweden who vanished 40 years ago. He's assisted by Lisbeth in his investigation, and together, this unlikely team discovers a vein of nearly unfathomable iniquity running through the Vanger family, astonishing corruption in the highest echelons of Swedish industrialism—and an unexpected connection between themselves.
