Bradley Cooper Cast as Lead in Dark Fields, based on the thriller by Alan Glynn

The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn

The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Bradley Cooper (Alias) has been cast (and replacing Shia LaBeouf) as the lead in Dark Fields, a thriller based on the 2002 novel The Dark Fields by Alan Glynn. Neil Burger (The Illusionist) will direct the screenplay adapted by Leslie Dixon (The Thomas Crown Affair). A 2010 release date is expected.

About The Dark Fields: Imagine a drug that makes your brain function with perfect efficiency, tapping into your most fundamental resources of intelligence and drive. Imagine a drug that could make you learn a foreign language in a day and seduce a room-full of strangers in a matter of minutes. Imagine a drug that could make you process information so fast you could see patterns in the stock market. Eddie Spinola is on such a drug. It's called MDT-48, a designer drug that's redesigning his life. Eddie's not the only one addicted to MDT, but now that his dealer is dead, he's the only one with a supply. While the drug is helping Eddie make the kind of money he's only dreamed about, he's also beginning to suffer the side effects. Blinding headaches. Violent outbursts. Ominous blackouts. And when Eddie tries to trace the other users, he discovers a terrifying truth.

Bradley Cooper is also reportedly the top pick to star as the lead in a series of Matt Helm spy thrillers, currently under development at Paramount.
