Crime novelist Matt Beynon Rees wrote a three-part series yesterday in the GlobalPost examining the Palestinian town of Nablus in the West Bank and its people, the Samaritans. Nablus served as the setting for Rees' most recent book, The Samaritan's Secret, which we recently reviewed and declared the best mystery we've read this year (to date). [MBN note: See Mysterious Reviews: The Samaritan's Secret by Matt Beynon Rees.]
Rees has also produced a video (see below) in which he explores the hidden world of the Samaritans and ends discussing additional background material he used to develop the plot for the book.

Thanks for mentioning these articles. I really do hope they'll give some interesting background to THE SAMARITAN'S SECRET. I made similar videos for my other novels, which you can see at http://www.mattbeynonrees.com/video.htm
ReplyDeleteAlso, thanks for the great review of THE SAMARITAN'S SECRET this week -- I'm delighted with it! Best, Matt
