A compendium of recently published mystery news articles; note that we're still way behind in getting news items posted but hope to be current within a couple of weeks:
• BusinessWeek has a brief report on James Patterson's reach into books, movies, television series, and now games. There's also a review of the online game, Women's Murder Club: Death in Scarlet. • In other James Patterson news, the best-selling author announced the winners of the 3rd annual James Patterson PageTurner Awards. A press release provides information on the individual winners and their cash awards.
• C. J. Box was presented with the Wyoming travel and tourism industry's highest award, the "Big Wyo" for 2008 according to the Wyoming Business Report. Box owns and manages Rocky Mountain International which coordinates tourism activities for Wyoming, South Dakota, Montana, and Idaho. Box also writes a highly regarded mystery series featuring Wyoming game warden Joe Pickett.
• The Chicago Tribune has a short interview with Blue Balliett who writes a series of mysteries for kids. Her third book in Petra and Calder series, The Calder Game, was published last month.
• Jane Dickinson interviews mystery author Elizabeth George in the Rocky Mountain News.
• A new mystery game for the Nintendo DS, Jake Hunter: Detective Chronicles, is scheduled for release on June 10th. It can be pre-ordered now from Amazon.com. (MBN note: See more mystery games for Nintendo DS at Games of Mystery.)
