When the home security alarm awakens Cait in the middle of the night, she assumes there are bugs in the new system and has it checked out the next day. When the security company technician arrives, he finds a halberd — a Shakespearean weapon — and a knife on the ground, which are construed as evidence of an attempted break-in.

Cait recognizes the knife. It's the same military combat knife found on Hank Dillon, the bank robber she shot and killed two years ago while on duty as a cop in Ohio. She calls the Livermore Police to report the incident. With plays opening at her Shakespearan theaters that weekend, her main concern is the safety of the actors and her guests.

When Cait's friend with the Columbus PD looks into the bank robber's background, he learns three things: Hank Dillon, who was black, was adopted into a white family before such adoptions were commonplace; his blood brother, Wally Dillon, who was left with his single parent mother, has been asking about Cait; and the knife used in the robbery is missing from the property room.

All facts indicate Wally is seeking revenge of his blood brother's death at Cait's hands.

Welcome to Hope Street Church, where friendships are formed, fresh starts are encouraged, and mysteries are solved.

Cooper Lee has never been happier. She has terrific friends at Bible study, a great boyfriend in Nathan, and best of all, a new niece or nephew on the way. But storm clouds are gathering when a string of church robberies comes to Hope Street and an art teacher is found dead in what appears to be a robbery gone wrong. With Halloween approaching, Cooper's beginning to think there are far more tricks than treats coming her way.

No sooner do she and her friends step in to help the police unearth a killer than they discover a con artist among their flock. Lost in a morass of confusing clues — and even more confusing signals from Nathan — Cooper's not sure which way to turn. With the stakes so high, she sends up a prayer for some divine guidance, because Cooper knows that sometimes it takes the help of a higher power to bring down the lowest form of evildoer.

Graduate students Jonathan and Michael Rickner, sons of eminent archaeologist Sir William Rickner, are no strangers to historical mysteries and archaeological adventures. But when Michael is discovered dead in his Washington, D.C. apartment, Jon refuses to believe the official ruling of suicide. Digging deeper into his brother's work, he discovers evidence that Michael was murdered to keep his dissertation research buried.

Joined by Michael's fiancée Mara Ellison, Jon travels to New York where he uncovers the threads of a deadly Depression-era conspiracy — one entangling the Hoover Administration, the Rockefellers, and the rise of Nazi Germany — and the elite cadre of assassins that still guard its unspeakable secret.

Finding themselves in the crosshairs of the same men who killed Michael, Jon and Mara must navigate a complex web of historical cover-ups and modern-day subterfuge, outwitting and outrunning their all-powerful pursuers as they race through the monuments and museums of Manhattan in a labyrinthine treasure hunt to discover the last secret of John D. Rockefeller, Jr., before their enemies can bury the truth — and them — forever.

It's bad enough that the first-born grandsons of Alder Bay's coffee club are disappearing one by one … but when one of their grandmas is found murdered, reporter Elliot Lake knows evil has dripped its way into his sleepy little coastal town.

Trouble's also brewing with his girlfriend Rose, so by the time his parents show up, he's done. He's ready to hide in his crappy trailer on the beach and spend his days pounding sand with his chocolate Lab Bruce and tuxedo cat Bob until it all blows over, but he can't: Elliot's met the mysterious and intuitive Sky Lark, and she's set to change his life for the better.

Armed with only the visions of the violet-eyed Sky and the ramblings of local mumbling man Jeremy, Elliot Lake is on the story and solves the mystery while fighting his feelings for the very married Sky.
