A David Wolf Thriller
Publisher: Jeff Carson

Sergeant David Wolf has put his Special Forces days long behind him, settling down as a cop in the small ski resort town of Rocky Points, Colorado. He's a good cop who's seen bad days before, but none quite like this.

As if narrowly escaping an attempt on his life, his addict ex-wife being back in the picture, and complications to his all-but-certain appointment to Sheriff weren't enough, he's just received word that his traveling blogger brother has committed suicide in the Alps of Italy.

Devastation and resentment over his only sibling's selfish act quickly gives way to a nagging suspicion that he isn't getting the whole truth. Conviction of his brother's character is enough to pull Wolf from his pressing situation at home to the entirely foreign land of Northern Italy — into a more dangerous and volatile turn of events than he could have possibly imagined.

With the help of a beautiful young officer of the Carabinieri, Wolf must piece together what happened on that last fateful night of his brother's life without ruffling too many feathers, or paying the ultimate price.

The 13th Tribe by Robert Liparulo

The 13th Tribe by Robert Liparulo
An Inspirational Suspense Thriller
Publisher: Thomas Nelson

When a group of immortal vigilantes threatens millions, only one man is brave enough to stand in their way …

Their story didn’t start this year … or even this millennium.

It began when Moses was on Mt. Sinai. Tired of waiting on the One True God, the twelve tribes of Israel began worshipping a golden calf through pagan revelry. Many received immediate death for their idolatry, but 40 were handed a far worse punishment — endless life on earth with no chance to see the face of God.

This group of immortals became the 13th Tribe, and they’ve been trying to earn their way into heaven ever since — by killing sinners. Though their logic is twisted, their brilliance is undeniable. Their wrath is unstoppable. And the technology they possess is beyond anything mere humans have ever seen.

Jagger Baird knows nothing about the Tribe when he’s hired as head of security for an archaeological dig on Mt. Sinai. The former Army Ranger is still reeling from an accident that claimed the life of his best friend, his arm, and his faith in God.

The Tribe is poised to execute their most ambitious attack ever and the lives of millions hang in the balance. When Jagger’s wife and son are caught in the crossfire, he’ll stop at nothing to save them. But how can one man stand against an entire tribe of immortals?

Maybe it's because I had such low expectations going in that I'm rating this movie as high as I am … which, to be fair, isn't all that high. If you haven't seen the previous movies with Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross, you won't know how good this character can be. (To be sure, he had better screenplays to work with as well.) And if you have seen these movies, you'll need to completely set those performances aside to enjoy this film.

Fegan has been a "hard man", an IRA killer in northern Ireland. Now that peace has come, he is being haunted day and night by twelve ghosts: a mother and infant, a schoolboy, a butcher, an RUC constable, and seven other of his innocent victims. In order to appease them, he's going to have to kill the men who gave him orders.

As he's working his way down the list he encounters a woman who may offer him redemption; she has borne a child to an RUC officer and is an outsider too. Now he has given Fate — and his quarry — a hostage. Is this Fegan's ultimate mistake?

Since being bounced from the Boston police for insubordination after six years of service, Carlotta Carlyle has set up shop as a private investigator ready to deal with anything from lost pets to substantially grander larcenies. Though Carlotta, a six-foot-tall, redheaded ex cop, part-time cabbie, and neophyte private eye, works out of her home, it's rare that clients stop by unannounced. Especially clients like the genteel, reserved, elderly spinster Miss Margaret Devens.

With cash flow problems and a caseload so light that she's taken to reading her cat's mail, Carlotta accepts the case of Miss Devens's missing brother Eugene. Oddly enough, Carlotta knew Eugene when they worked together back at Green and White Cab. As far as Carlotta sees it, this case should be a pinch — until two thugs looking for money send her client to the hospital.

The old lady's missing brother seems to have been involved in something much more dangerous than simply driving a cab. Carlotta is determined to do whatever it takes?work the cops, pose as a hooker, and even drive a cab again—to find Eugene before it's too late.

Telemystery: Red Widow Premieres Sunday, March 3rd on ABC

Telemystery Prime Time Crime: Mystery and Suspense on Television

When her husband is brutally murdered, stay-at-home mom Marta Walraven is pushed to the limits to protect her children in the new ABC crime drama Red Widow, premiering tomorrow, Sunday March 3rd, 2013 with a 2-hour episode at 9 PM ET/PT. (The series' regular timeslot will be Sundays at 10 PM ET/PT.

In the first hour of the premiere, "Pilot", Marta Walraven (Radha Mitchell) has spent most of her life staying out of her father's world of organized crime. But when her loving husband, Evan, who supports the family by exporting marijuana, is brutally murdered in their driveway, everything changes. Marta's primary concern is to protect her three children — and yet when an FBI agent promises justice in exchange for her cooperation, she hesitates to go against the "Bratva" (Russian mob) code. Evan's business partners — Marta's scheming brother, Irwin Petrov (Wil Traval), and their best friend, the hapless Mike Tomlin (Lee Tergesen ) — were involved in the theft of millions of dollars of cocaine from a formidable international crime boss, Nicholae Schiller (Goran Visnjic). Evan paid with his life, but as far as Schiller is concerned, his debt is not clear. It is up to Marta, as Evan's widow, to navigate the criminal underworld in order to repay this debt — whatever way Schiller sees fit.

In the second hour, "The Contact", in exchange for his stolen drugs, crime boss Schiller tells a still grieving Marta he wants her to import a shipment for him. But she doesn't know when or how he will contact her. She believes if she is successful, she will be free from Schiller's control. While waiting, she enlists Mike and her father, Andrei (Rade Serbedzija), to teach her the criminal business. Their first step is to find a customs official to pay off — requiring an uncomfortable Marta to use her feminine wiles and rethink how far she is willing to go to protect her children. Meanwhile, her young son, Boris (Jakob Salvati), is still reeling after having witnessed his dad's death; Andrei has his bodyguard, Luther (Luke Goss), keep watch over Marta's family; Marta's sister, Kat (Jaime Ray Newman), steps in to help out at the house, causing conflict with her new husband; Marta's brother, Irwin, fights for his life while in jail for gun possession; and a suspicious Natalie asks FBI Agent James Ramos (Clifton Collins Jr.) if her father was involved in illegal activities.

Red Widow is based on the Dutch series Penoza, which recently concluded its second season on the air in The Netherlands.
