What was the owner of a small-town FBO doing draped across the top of his brand-new cadillac-shot through the heart? That's what Grace and Albert Beckmann wondered as they flew their Piper Turbo Arrow in for a quick fuel stop, and found instead a murder.

The victim, James Delacroix, was a man everyone loved to hate: the partners he cheated, the children he mistreated, the women he used. And why was he wearing a ring that had disappeared in war-torn Europe over fifty years before?

The Beckmanns would have been happy to let someone else solve the crime, but fate intervened. At least, the murder gave their sons, Spence and Paul, a chance to prove themselves at everything from cyberspace to skid row survival.

A desperate search for answers takes Tanner to The Freezer, an isolated facility on one of Jupiter's moons. We are delighted to welcome back crime novelist G. R. Case to Omnimystery News.

Today G. R. tells us what storytelling means to him.

I know I will never win a Grammy Award for a heart-felt song, nor will I ever become world-renown for painting a masterpiece on canvas. I have a different type of gift that allows me to see, hear, and feel the struggles and triumphs of characters in various situations.

The art of storytelling is as old as humanity itself, whereby, it has been conducted orally to disseminate a vital cultural heritage from one generation to the next, or it is expressed through the written word. It is a privilege and honor to be able to share with readers a story that has been crafted from a vision, outline, rough draft, and finished book. Like readers, I get a chance to see characters go through a "roller-coaster" ride on the emotional spectrum. Sometimes I just want to say to the characters, "Don't do it!" However, as a novelist, I have to remain true to my craft and don't intervene with a character's journey. After all, I am only a scribe documenting a character's action as it unfolds.

I am fine with not winning a Grammy Award or not being a painter, but after years of writing many novels, maybe one day I'll carve out my place in history.
