Review summary: Elegantly crafted with a strong sense of time and place, this is yet another outstanding entry in this fine series. It's hard to find fault with a book so well-written and engaging, with an intriguing plot set at the time of a turning point of American history, but it isn't perfect, with some uneven pacing in the narrative.
