Former Army Special Forces Officer Martin "Del" Delano has enough on his hands chasing a serial killer and heading up TASK FORCE HAWAII. He definitely doesn't need the distraction of Emma Mitchell. For Emma, it's hard to ignore the lure of a man like him. Tats, muscles and his Harley cause her to have more than a few fantasies about Del. She convinces herself she can handle it until the moment he steals her heart.

Del can't help falling for the quirky genius. She's smart, funny and there's a sweet vulnerable side to her that only he can see. About Blue Voyage

Zan is a politician's daughter and an adrenaline junkie. Whether she's rock climbing or shoplifting, she loves to live on the edge. But she gets more of a rush than she bargained for on a forced mother-daughter bonding trip to Turkey, where she finds herself in the crosshairs of an antiquities smuggling ring. These criminals believe that Zan can lead them to an ancient treasure that's both priceless and cursed. Until she does so, she and her family are in grave danger.

Zan's quest to save the treasure — and the lives of people she cares about — leads her from the sparkling Mediterranean, to the bustle of Istanbul's Grand Bazaar, to the eerie and crumbling caves of Cappadocia. But it seems that nowhere is safe, and there's only so high she can climb before everything comes tumbling down.

Please Welcome Mystery Author Kathleen Ernst

Omnimystery News: Guest Post by Kathleen Ernst

We are delighted to welcome author Kathleen Ernst to Omnimystery News, courtesy of Great Escapes Book Tours, which is coordinating her current book tour. We encourage you to visit all of the participating host sites; you can find her schedule here.

Kathleen's sixth mystery in her Chloe Ellefson series is Death on the Prairie (Midnight Ink; October 2015 trade paperback and ebook formats) and we asked her to give us the backstory to the book. She titles her guest post for us today, "The Hidden History of Laura Ingalls Wilder's Quilts".

Anyone with an interest in family history knows how easy it is for information to disappear. When someone dies, a wealth of knowledge dies too.

As a former museum curator, I'm also familiar with the professional frustration that came all too often from not having enough information to fully understand the story behind an artifact, photograph, letter, or other bit of history. Who once owned it, and how did that person feel about it? This was especially true with handmade items, whether a patched apron or an exquisitely carved decorative bowl.

That phenomenon is partly why I began writing the Chloe Ellefson mysteries, featuring a curator who works at one historic site, and often visits others. When I worked in the biz, I often encountered artifacts with no known provenance. No information about the object's origin, or history. I could speculate, but not fabricate.

But as a novelist — oh, the pleasure of making up answers for some of the questions that remain unanswered!

That's certainly true in the latest Chloe Ellefson mystery, Death on the Prairie. A family friend stuns Chloe with the delivery of an antique quilt which, the friend explains, was once owned by Laura Ingalls Wilder. Will Chloe help determine which of the historic sites dedicated to the famous author should be gifted the quilt?

Chloe and her sister Kari set off on a journey they'd longed dreamed of — a road trip to each Wilder homesite. They plan to show the quilt to fellow curators, and learn more about Laura's quilts. Chloe wants to corroborate the precious textile as something Laura once owned — and perhaps even made herself.

In real life, several Wilder quilts do exist, now displayed at various historic sites and museums in the towns where Laura once lived. Laura had one daughter, Rose Wilder Lane. Rose, like her mother, was quite skilled at needlework. Both women made quilts. Rose was an only child, and she took possession of Laura's things after Laura's death. When Rose died Roger MacBride, her lawyer and good friend, inherited her things — including quilts.

And Mr. MacBride discovered that the stories behind some of the quilt were gone forever. When he gifted one quilt to the Laura Ingalls Wilder Museum in Pepin, WI, he included this note:

"I am sending a quilt that belonged to Laura. Rose gathered it up after Laura's death and took it to her house in Connecticut, where I found it following her death. I have no way of knowing whether Laura had a hand in making it or not. It may well have been a gift to her, or it may have been something she did herself."

Such lost information is frustrating for a curator, but fodder for a novelist. Chloe's yearning to know the truth about her friend's treasured quilt reflects my own yearning, back in my curatorial days, to know the story behind so many beautiful pieces of folk art.

But what happens when the local car salesman suffers one lost sale too many, when one more customer decides to buy from the competition because the price is too high, interest rates aren't friendly, or that shade of blue just won't work?

Shamus Ryan's frustration works like a thorn under his skin until psychotic urges take over and he commits murder — serial murders, in fact — his victims chosen from prospective clients who dared to walk away.

Paul Chang, a Chinese-American homicide detective, is struggling to understand why these murders are taking place. Assisted by his neurotic partner, Nelson Rogers, Chang goes after the killer with logic, tenacity, and no small measure of fear.

A Carroll Monks Mystery (2nd in series)

Publisher: HarperCollins

Price: $1.99 (as of 10/14/2015 at 6:00 PM ET).

Blood Double by Neil McMahon, Amazon Kindle format

From the very start, Dr. Carroll Monks knew that the businessman dumped from a limousine in the parking lot of Mercy Hospital wasn't a typical San Francisco junkie. Even after Monks had rushed the dying man inside and brought him back from the precipice of a heroin overdose — after the danger had, seemingly, passed-Monks sensed that something more sinister was brewing.

Just how sinister, he couldn't have guessed. First a phalanx of lawyers and doctors descended on the hospital and whisked the man away before Monks could find out more about the suspicious circumstances surrounding his arrival. Then a small fire broke out in the hospital — an act of sabotage that resulted in the disappearance of the man's blood samples. But the real shock came the next morning, when the newspapers reported the mysterious disappearance of billionaire Lex Rittenour. Rittenour, a beloved computer wunderkind, had long been rumored to be developing a top-secret technology involving the human genome, the medical applications of which had the potential to place his name alongside those of Lister, Curie, and Salk. Now, just days before the unveiling of his breakthrough, Rittenour — whom Monks now recognizes as the man he saved in the ER the night before-had, according to his corporate spokesmen, "gone into seclusion."

What begins for Monks as an inquiry into Rittenour's disappearance unearths something far more diabolical — the horrific facts behind genetic research done in Rittenour's name-and pits him against a corporation of dubious ethics, ruthless commando-style tactics, and a multi-billion-dollar motivation to protect its dark secrets.
