Telemystery: CBS Developing Doc Ford, based on a Randy Wayne White Series Character

CBS is developing a crime drama based on Randy Wayne White's series character Marion "Doc" Ford.

Titled Doc Ford, Chris Gerolmo is writing the script that is centered on the ex-NSA agent, who now lives on the gulf coast of Florida working as a marine biologist.

White's long-running series began in 1990 with the publication of Sanibel Flats. The most recent book, Night Moves, the 20th in the series, was published earlier this year. With lots of fine material to work from, and the right casting, this could be a stellar drama for CBS.

Soon, a sociopathic methamphetamine kingpin, Gator Bodine (James Franco) puts Broker and his daughter in harm's way forcing Broker back into action in order to save his family and the town.

Directed by Gary Fleder from an adapted screenplay by Sylvester Stallone and based on the novel Homefront, the sixth thriller to feature ex-cop Phil Broker by Chuck Logan.

Running time: 100 minutes. Rated R for strong violence, pervasive language, drug content and brief sexuality.
