This week's Amazon TV Deal of the Week is the first season of three "telemystery" series: Homeland, Once Upon a Time, and Revenge.
• Homeland
Based on the Israeli series Hatufin, Homeland premiered on Showtime in October 2011 and was an immediate ratings success for the pay-cable network. Damian Lewis stars as Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody, both a decorated hero and a serious threat. Claire Danes stars as CIA officer Carrie Mathison, tops in her field despite being bipolar. The delicate dance these two complex characters perform, built on lies, suspicion, and desire, is at the heart of this gripping, emotional thriller in which nothing short of the fate of our nation is at stake. Homeland swept the major drama categories at the Emmys, winning for Outstanding Drama, Outstanding Lead Actor, Outstanding Lead Actress, and Outstanding Writing for a Drama for its pilot, written by Gideon Raff and series creators Howard Gordon and Alex Gansa.
Homeland is currently airing its second season, and has already been renewed for a third season.
• Once Upon a Time
This is Fairy Tale Land. It's filled with magic, monsters and all of the characters we all know from stories growing up. It's real, and so are the people in it. But unlike the "happily ever after" you may have heard about, their stories continued, and The Evil Queen cast a Dark Curse over the land …
This is Storybrooke. It's a quiet, little, New England town filled with people who go about their everyday lives with no idea who they really are. The Queen's Curse has trapped them here and placed her in near-complete control. They have no real memories and no real hope.
Once Upon a Time premiered on ABC in October 2011. It is currently airing its second season.
• Revenge
This is not a story about forgiveness; Revenge is a show about retribution. Meet Emily Thorne, the newest resident of The Hamptons. When she was a little girl (and known as Amanda Clarke) her father, David Clarke, was framed for a horrific crime and subsequently sent to prison. While serving his time, the conspirators plotted and murdered David in order to prevent the truth from coming out. Emily is now back with a new identity and ready to take vengeance on the people that murdered her father and stole her childhood.
Central to all the conspirators are Victoria and Conrad Grayson. Conrad is CEO of Grayson Global, David's old employer, and Victoria is Conrad's wife (David's old lover to boot). At first we believe these two power players are the masterminds of the cover up, but we soon realize that they are only the tip of the iceberg.
Emily's friend, Nolan Ross, is there to aid Emily in her plans. Most notably, Nolan provides assistance to Emily is the areas of electronic surveillance and espionage and keeps Emily's childhood friend and current secret love, Jack Porter, out of harm's way.
Nothing will stop Emily's pursuit of justice and no one is off limits.
Revenge premiered on ABC in September 2011 and is currently airing its second season.
