Telemystery: SyFy Renews Haven for a 4th Season

Telemystery: Mystery and Suspense on Television

SyFy has renewed Haven for a fourth season.

"We couldn't be happier to see the story of Audrey Parker and the creepy, quirky town of Haven continue next year, said Mark Stern, president original content, SyFy. "Season three has hit a creative and critical high and we're very excited to see where the talented production team takes our colorful cast of characters led by the perfect trifecta of Emily Rose, Eric Balfour and Lucas Bryant in season four."

Based on the Stephen King novella The Colorado Kid, Haven stars Emily Rose as FBI Special Agent Audrey Parker, who arrives in the small town of Haven, Maine on a routine murder investigation. But her natural curiosity lands her in the epicenter of activity in this curious enclave, which turns out to be a longtime refuge for people that are affected by a range of supernatural afflictions.

Cinemystery: Warner Bros. Options New Jo Nesbø Thriller

Cinemystery: Crime Novels Adapted for Film

Warner Bros. has acquired the film rights to the Jo Nesbø thriller The Son — a book that, as far as we can tell, has yet to be published, even in the author's native Norway. (It is scheduled to be published here in the US by Knopf in 2014.) Though most of Nesbø's novels are centered on his series character Harry Hole, this new one is apparently a stand-alone. (Nesbø has another stand-alone that was recently filmed, Hodejegerne — "Headhunters" — and from which Summit has optioned the rights to an English-language adaptation.)

Deadline has the transaction details while also providing this overview: A young man, in prison for a crime he confessed to, but did not commit, learns that his police officer father's death may not have been a suicide as reported, but that he may have been murdered. He sets out to determine the truth while also bringing to justice those involved in the crime that landed him in prison.

Mysterious Press Releases 15 More Charlotte MacLeod Cozy Mysteries in eBook Format

Mysterious Press

Mysterious Press released 15 mysteries by Charlotte Craig this week: 10 in the "Peter Shandy" series and 5 in the "Grub and Stakers" series, originally published as written by Alisa Craig.

We previously profiled the author when the publisher released books in two other series last month — you can read our post here — so won't repeat that information here. However, we will briefly re-introduce the series characters for today's books: Peter Shandy is a horticulturist and amateur sleuth; and the Grub and Stakers are members of a garden club in Ontario.

We're providing a list of all fifteen titles being released by Mysterious Press below, with a synopsis of the first in each series.

Review: A Wanted Man by Lee Child

Mysterious Reviews: Reviews of New Mysteries, Novels of Suspense, and Thrillers

A Mysterious Review of …

A Wanted Man by Lee Child. A Jack Reacher Thriller.

Review summary: There's something very appealing about the simple way this story is set up and develops. However, about a third of the way in it seems to lose its way a bit, becoming overly complicated and obtuse and not all that exciting. In the end, this is an agreeable entry in this series, but definitely not one of the more thrilling ones. (Click here for text of full review.)
