Telemystery: AMC and Netflix Considering a Third Season of The Killing
We were enthusiastic fans of AMC's murder mystery series The Killing … until the series' showrunner decided to betray the audience by changing the rules in the middle of the game. We basically lost interest after the first season. When AMC canceled the series at the end of the second season — yes, we did somewhat reluctantly watch it — we had mixed feelings. The cast was first-rate and we were sorry that they had to suffer as a consequence of the arrogance of the showrunner but we were happy that we wouldn't be tempted to watch any more … and ultimately be disappointed again.
Well, the plot, as they say, thickens. Deadline is reporting that AMC is working with Netflix and the series producers to create a third season. The arrangement, if the project moves forward, would have the season "air" first on Netflix and later on AMC. The good news is the principal cast is committed to a third season. The bad — and probably deal-breaking for us — news is that showrunner Veena Sud is still associated with the show. The only way we'd return is if she publicly apologized for the way she handled the first two seasons of the series and then promised to create a positive viewer experience for the third season. Since that's not likely to happen, we simply don't have the time and energy to commit to being deceived again by her, and thus we'll likely give the third season — if it comes to be — a pass.
New Trailer for Action Crime Thriller The Last Stand
The final trailer for the action crime thriller The Last Stand has been released by the studio (embedded below).
After leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Arnold Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy.
With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow. Cortez' path: straight through Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement, including Agent John Bannister (Forest Whitaker) will have their final opportunity to intercept him before the violent fugitive slips across the border forever.
At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately rallies his team and takes the matter into his own hands, setting the stage for a classic showdown.
Directed by Kim Jee-woon from an original screenplay written by Andrew Knauer and Jeffrey Nachmanoff, The Last Stand opens in theaters January 18th, 2013.

Review: Dead Anyway by Chris Knopf
A Mysterious Review of …
Dead Anyway by Chris Knopf.
Review summary: This is an intricately crafted, superbly plotted crime novel. It's hard — probably impossible — to say much about the plot without giving away too much of what happens, so suffice it to say this is a most entertaining storyline. There are a few problems that slightly mar the experience, but none of them should prevent one from reading this excellent novel. (Click here for text of full review.)
