USA Networks Enlists Viewers to Help in Finding White Collar's Elizabeth Burke

White Collar (USA)

Fans of White Collar will remember that the series ended its summer season last August with the kidnapping of Peter Burke's wife Elizabeth. New episodes of the series return on January 17th and with just two weeks to go, USA Networks has launched a new website, WhereIsElizabethBurke.com, where evidence gathered by crime scene technicians assigned to the case is being presented.

You can play a role in helping to find her by examining the evidence and proposing a theory as to her safety, her location, and the severity of her situation.

Here's today's clue from series creator Jeff Eastin: "Listen closely to the last conversation between Peter and Elizabeth [Evidence # 14]. Do you hear anything strange? I am positive there is an odd noise on Elizabeth's end."

Eastin will pick the top theories proposed by viewers and one lucky fan may be featured on the series!

Telemystery: How Are Your Favorite Prime Time Crime Series Faring This Season?

Telemystery: Mystery and Suspense on Television

Now that we've reached half-way point (or so) of the 2011/2012 television season, it's time to take a minute and look at what's working and what isn't. TV|Line has a list of all prime time television shows on the four networks, with their best guess as to whether they'll be renewed or not for next season. We've taken that list, extracted the really important series — i.e. Prime Time Crime shows — and condensed the 8 levels of their "reliable renewal index" to just four.

Sure or highly likely to be renewed:

Blue Bloods (CBS)
Bones (Fox)
Castle (ABC)
Criminal Minds (CBS)
CSI (CBS)
Grimm (NBC)
Hawaii Five-0 (CBS)
Law & Order: SVU (NBC)
The Mentalist (CBS)
NCIS (CBS)
NCIS: Los Angeles (CBS)
Once Upon a Time (ABC)
Revenge (ABC)
Unforgettable (CBS)

Could go either way:

Body of Proof (ABC)
CSI: Miami (CBS)
CSI: NY (CBS)
Harry’s Law (NBC)
Person of Interest (CBS)
Terra Nova (Fox)

Unlikely to be renewed or already canceled:

Charlie’s Angels (ABC)
Fringe (Fox)
Prime Suspect (NBC)

Three series have yet to premiere, so their fate remains to be determined:

Alcatraz (Fox; premieres January 16th)
The Finder (Fox; premieres January 12th)
The Firm (NBC; premieres January 8th)

Any surprises?

We'll be hearing more about renewals and cancelations in the months to come. May is typically the month when the networks make their fall schedules known.

Netflix Announces Premiere Date for Lilyhammer

Lilyhammer (Netflix)

Netflix announced today that its original drama Lilyhammer will premiere on February 6th, 2012.

Steven Van Zandt (The Sopranos) stars as New York mobster Frank "The Fixer" Tagliano as he enters the federal witness protection program after ratting on his boss. A sports fan, Frank wants to make his new life in Lillehammer, the Norwegian town that hosted the 1994 Winter Olympics — or as he calls it "Lilyhammer." Frank has visions of a paradise of "clean air, fresh white snow and gorgeous broads" far away from the temptations of the Big Apple and from mob hit men. Reality, of course, turns out to be spectacularly different.

All eight episodes of the series (optimistically designated as its first season) will be available on the premiere date. Watch a trailer for the series below.

ION Acquires Renewed Fifth Season of Flashpoint

Flashpoint (CTV/CBS/ION)

This past summer, the Canadian crime drama Flashpoint was renewed for a fifth season by CTV and now we're learning that ION Television has picked up the season as well to air in the US.

The series revolves around the fictional Strategic Response Unit (SRU), which is modeled after an elite tactital unit within the Toronto Police, and composed of highly specialized officers trained to use any means possible other than deadly force to resolve tense crime situations.

CBS aired the first few seasons of the series in the US before ION acquired the rights to the entire series. ION is currently airing episodes from the fourth season.

Sony Still Planning Film Sequels to The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo

Stieg Larsson's Millennium Trilogy

We still haven't seen the English-language film adaptation of the first in Stieg Larsson's "Millennium Trilogy", The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, life getting in the way, as it were. But we have been following news about the film, and are aware that it isn't doing nearly the box office business that had been expected (or had been hoped) given the broad and popular appeal of the source material and the star power of the actors in the lead roles.

Which, of course, leads one to question whether the studio is still planning on adapting the second and third books of the trilogy.

EW.com yesterday published an update from Sony on the prospects for the films. "[Dragon Tattoo] continues to do strong business and nothing has changed with respect to development of the next book," a Sony representative told EW. The screenplay adaptation is being written for The Girl Who Played with Fire and Daniel Craig and Rooney Mara are already locked into reprising their roles in the sequels (though no director has signed on yet).

We're hoping to see The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo this coming weekend. The trick for us will be to not compare it to the original Swedish-language adaptation, which we really enjoyed. As for the English-language sequels, we'll keep you posted on their progress.

Death Tidies Up by Barbara Colley

Death Tidies Up by Barbara Colley
A Charlotte LaRue Mystery
Publisher: Kensington

This is the second title in this long-running series featuring New Orleans maid service owner Charlotte LaRue.

About Death Tidies Up (from the publisher): Between running Maid-for-a-Day and fretting about her upcoming birthday (the dreaded 6-0), Charlotte doesn't have much time for gossip. But New Orleans's latest dust-up is hard to ignore — especially since it involves Marian Hebert, one of Charlotte's new clients. It turns out that Marian's now-deceased husband once worked for his best friend Drew Bergeron's real-estate agency — and when the business deal soured, so did the friendship. The whole sordid affair came to an unfortunate end when Drew died in a plane crash — and Bill Hebert was killed in what some call an accident — and others call murder. Charlotte's happy to ignore the rumors — until she finds a barely-cold corpse in the closet of a soon-to-be renovated old mansion she's cleaning.

The police are sure the body is Drew Bergeron, which strikes Charlotte as funny, considering he's supposedly been dead for years. Now, all that gossip about the Heberts and Bergerons seems incredibly — and dangerously — timely. As old rivalries flare and past secrets suddenly come back in the present, Charlotte figures she'd better sort things out fast — before the situation gets too messy even for her.
