Knopf Reveals Title, Cover for 4th Book in the Millennium Series based on Characters Created by Stieg Larsson

The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz

Knopf has revealed the title and cover for the fourth entry in the "Millennium" series created by Stieg Larsson — The Girl in the Spider's Web by David Lagercrantz.

"Stieg Larsson was a master at creating complex narratives," said David Lagercrantz, "narratives made all the more forceful because of the journalistic authority with which they were originally written. That was something that informed my approach to book four, and I'm confident Millennium readers will identify with the storylines in Spider's Web." The storylines, of course, include hacking and corruption, but Lagercrantz suggests "there are some surprises in store for readers as well, including the introduction of Silicon Valley as a locale and a character from the National Security Agency in a central role. There are even symbols and code." In retrospect, admits Lagercrantz, "this is some of the hardest and most rewarding work I've done as a writer."

Larsson was at work on a fourth novel in the series at the time of his death in 2004, but none of that narrative — which is at the center of a dispute between Larsson's long-time partner and his family — is included in this book. Larsson's family, which inherited his estate, hired Lagercrantz to continue the saga of Lisbeth Salander with a new storyline.

The Girl in the Spider's Web will be published September 1st, 2015 with a 500,000 initial printing in the US.
