"We have made the difficult decision not to move forward with a fourth season of The Killing," AMC said in a statement late yesterday. "We want to thank our … extraordinary cast and the dedicated fans who watched."
And so this promising — at least for one season — crime drama has been canceled for a second time. It was first canceled after the second season following the misguided decision of showrunner Veena Sud to not reveal whodunit at the end of the first season, despite suggesting otherwise in promos for the show. The second season finale resolved the open issues, but by then it was too late. A third season was eventually ordered in a deal with Netflix, but once burned, twice shy viewers largely stayed away despite a promise by the network to resolve a new crime within a single season.
