Arnaldur Indriðason Wins Spain's RBA International Prize for Crime Writing for 2013

Arnaldur Indriðason has won the 2013 RBA International Prize for Crime Writing for his book, Skuggasund. In addition to the honor of winning the Spanish award, he will receive €125,000.

Skuggasund, which loosely translates into Silhouette Swimming, will be published in November in the author's native Icelandic and in Spanish; no date has been set for an English translation of the book. "This is a book about a new policeman," the author said at a press conference. "It is unclear whether it will be the first of a series."

Indriðason is the also the author of the Detective Erlendur mysteries, thirteen of which have been published (with nine translated into English).
