Mystery Week in New York Starts Monday, April 25th

Mystery Writers of America

Next Thursday, April 28th, the Edgar Awards will be given out by the Mystery Writers of America. And to commemorate the 65th anniversary of the awards, April 25th through May 2nd will be declared "Mystery Week in New York" by the city's mayor, Michael Bloomberg.

The festivities kick off on Monday at 8 PM with readings about mystery, murder, and mayhem at Bar 82. On Tuesday, many of the nominees for this year's awards will be at The Mysterious Bookshop from 6 to 8 PM to celebrate the newest MWA Anthology, The Rich and the Dead. The 2011 Edgar Symposium starts on Wednesday with panels on "The Past, Present and Future of Mystery Writing", followed by the Edgars Banquet on Thursday. (Advanced tickets are required for the Edgar-related activities.)

We'll be monitoring the awards via Twitter and posting a list of the Edgar winners Thursday night.
