ABC Orders Pilot for New Detective Series Featuring Illusionists Penn and Teller


Variety is reporting that illusionists Penn and Teller will star in a new ABC comedy/drama for which the network has ordered a pilot, in which the duo play themselves, Las Vegas magicians, by night but become reluctant detectives by day.

Leonard Dick (House) will write the project and co-produce with Penn and Teller.

Some of our favorite amateur sleuth TV shows have involved illusion, including Bill Bixby as The Magician, an NBC series from 1973 that is not (yet) available on DVD; and Jonathan Creek, a terrific UK series featuring Alan Davies as the titular character who solves "impossible" crimes.
