New Poster Unveiled for Shutter Island

Shutter Island (movie poster)

A new poster for Shutter Island was unveiled at Cinema Expo International today, which is taking place from June 22 through 25, 2009 in Amsterdam.

This is not necessarily an "official" poster from Paramount, simply one shown during the conference by the studio. But we like the look of it. The first trailer for Shutter Island was released a couple of weeks ago.

Shutter Island, directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Leonardo DiCaprio, is based on a novel of the same name by Dennis Lehane. The film takes place in the year 1954. U.S. Marshal Teddy Daniels (DiCaprio) and his new partner, Chuck Aule (played by Mark Ruffalo), have come to Shutter Island, home of Ashecliffe Hospital for the Criminally Insane, to investigate the disappearance of a patient. Multiple murderess Rachel Solando is loose somewhere on this remote and barren island, despite having been kept in a locked cell under constant surveillance. As a killer hurricane bears relentlessly down on them, a strange case takes on even darker, more sinister shades -- with hints of radical experimentation, horrifying surgeries, and lethal countermoves made in the cause of a covert shadow war. No one is going to escape Shutter Island unscathed, because nothing at Ashecliffe Hospital is what it seems. But then neither is Teddy Daniels.

Shutter Island is secheduled to be in theaters October 02, 2009.
