BBC News is reporting that Lynda La Plante has been awarded the Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) for services to literature, drama and charity. La Plante is probably best known for the television series she developed (Prime Suspect, Trial & Retribution), but she has also written several suspense novels and is the author of the Anna Travis mystery series.
La Plante said it was the "proudest moment" of her life to be recognized for her writing career. She added that the CBE would enable her to do more charitable work on a "one-to-one" basis.
