Cover of First Lemony Snicket All the Wrong Questions Book Revealed

Who Could That Be at This Hour? (All the Wrong Questions) by Lemony Snicket

Last month a new series of Lemony Snicket autobiographical books was announced by Little, Brown. Today, the cover of the first of these was released (right).

"Who Could That Be at This Hour?" will be published on October 23rd, 2012. Though no synopsis is available, here's what has been revealed about the books in the "All the Wrong Questions" series: In a fading town, far from anyone he knew or trusted, a young Lemony Snicket began his apprenticeship in an organization nobody knows about. He started by asking questions that shouldn't have been on his mind. Now he has written an account that should not be published, in four volumes that shouldn't be read.

Motion Banner Poster for Total Recall

Total Recall (2012)

That banner poster for Total Recall, which we featured yesterday? Well, it's actually an overlay of images from a 10-second motion sequence (without audio), which was released by the studio today and embedded below.

Directed by Len Wiseman from a screenplay adaptation of Philip K. Dick's short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" by Mark Bomback and Kurt Wimmer, the film starring Colin Farrell opens in theaters August 3rd, 2012.

More Character Posters for Dark Shadows

Dark Shadows (2012)

A week or so ago we featured the first super-saturated character posters for Dark Shadows; today nine new character posters have been released (right and below; click for larger versions) with each of the characters in character, as it were. The tagline "Strange is relative" is retained.

In the film, directed by Tim Burton from a screenplay by Seth Graham-Smith, the year is 1752. Joshua and Naomi Collins, with young son Barnabas, set sail from Liverpool, England to start a new life in America. But even an ocean was not enough to escape the mysterious curse that has plagued their family.

Two decades pass and Barnabas (Johnny Depp) has the world at his feet — or at least the town of Collinsport, Maine. The master of Collinwood Manor, Barnabas is rich, powerful and an inveterate playboy … until he makes the grave mistake of breaking the heart of Angelique Bouchard (Eva Green). A witch, in every sense of the word, Angelique dooms him to a fate worse than death: turning him into a vampire, and then burying him alive.

Two centuries later, Barnabas is inadvertently freed from his tomb and emerges into the very changed world of 1972. He returns to Collinwood Manor to find that his once-grand estate has fallen into ruin. The dysfunctional remnants of the Collins family have fared little better, each harboring their own dark secrets.

Matriarch Elizabeth Collins Stoddard (Michelle Pfeiffer) has called upon her live-in psychiatrist, Dr. Julia Hoffman (Helena Bonham Carter), to help with her family troubles. Also residing in the manor is Elizabeth's ne'er-do-well brother, Roger Collins, (Jonny Lee Miller); her rebellious teenage daughter Carolyn Stoddard (Chloe Moretz); and Roger's precocious 10-year-old son, David Collins (Gulliver McGrath).

The mystery extends beyond the family, to caretaker Willie Loomis (Jackie Earle Haley) and David's new nanny Victoria Winters (Bella Heathcote).

Dark Shadows opens in theaters May 11th, 2012.

Set on the rugged west coast of Ireland, this series follows Garda Sergeant Jack Driscoll as he keeps the peace while struggling to come to terms with his late father, who held the post before him. This season, presumably the last, also includes a multi-episode subplot involving Jack's cousin, who has returned to stake a familial claim.

Which is impossible.

Prentisstown has been lying to him.

And now he's going to have to run …

Directed by Len Wiseman from a screenplay adaptation of Philip K. Dick's short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" by Mark Bomback and Kurt Wimmer, the film opens in theaters August 3rd, 2012.

Body of Proof (ABC)

ABC.com is launching a five-part web series connecting the two-part Body of Proof episode "Going Viral", the first part of which airs tonight at 10 PM (ET/PT). On the show the team faces a city-wide outbreak of an unknown virus and no one is safe … including Dr. Megan Hunt (Dana Delany) and her team.

The web series debuts on ABC.com/BodyofProof at 11 PM ET, immediately following tonight's episode, and focuses on a press conference given by Dr. Kate Murphy (Jeri Ryan). During Kate's remarks, pandemonium breaks out, and a reporter in the room is introduced, Julie Tompkins (Jolie Jenkins). Over the course of the remaining web series, viewers will follow Julie's personal experience with the virus and gain key insights into "Going Viral, Part 2" airing next week, Tuesday April 3rd, at 10 PM (ET/PT).

New Poster for Samuel L. Jackson Crime Thriller The Samaritan

The Samaritan (2012)

IFC Films has released a new poster (via Collider) for the crime thriller The Samaritan (right; click for larger version).

The film stars Samuel L. Jackson as ex-con Foley, who — after 25 years in prison — is finished with the grifter's life. And when he meets an elusive young woman named Iris (Ruth Negga), the possibility of a new start looks real.

But his past is proving to be a stubborn companion: Ethan (Luke Kirby), the son of his former partner, has an ingenious plan and he wants Foley in. The harder Foley tries to escape his past, the tighter he is ensnared in Ethan's web of secrets … until it becomes all too clear to Foley that some wrongs can never be made right.

Directed by David Weaver from his own screenplay co-written with Elan Mastai, The Samaritan will be available as a digital download and via video-on-demand on April 6th, with a limited engagement in theaters on May 16th.

First Trailer for a Trailer for Total Recall

Total Recall

Sony Pictures has released a trailer for a trailer. That is not a misprint.

The film is Total Recall, and the 30 second video (embedded below) could also probably be called a teaser trailer.

Here's the synopsis from the studio:

Total Recall is an action thriller about reality and memory, inspired anew by the famous short story "We Can Remember It For You Wholesale" by Philip K. Dick. Welcome to Rekall, the company that can turn your dreams into real memories. For a factory worker named Douglas Quaid (Colin Farrell), even though he's got a beautiful wife (Kate Beckinsale) who he loves, the mind-trip sounds like the perfect vacation from his frustrating life — real memories of life as a super-spy might be just what he needs. But when the procedure goes horribly wrong, Quaid becomes a hunted man. Finding himself on the run from the police — controlled by Chancellor Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston), the leader of the free world — Quaid teams up with a rebel fighter (Jessica Biel) to find the head of the underground resistance (Bill Nighy) and stop Cohaagen. The line between fantasy and reality gets blurred and the fate of his world hangs in the balance as Quaid discovers his true identity, his true love, and his true fate.

So … mark your calendars! You won't want to miss the World Trailer Premiere of Total Recall this Sunday, April 1st during the Celtics-Heat game on ABC.

Whitechapel Season 2 Premieres Wednesday, March 28th on BBC America

Whitechapel (BBC America)

The second season of Whitechapel premieres tomorrow, Wednesday March 28th, at 10 PM (ET/PT) on BBC America. (It aired earlier this year as the third series on ITV in the UK.)

This season of six episodes will consist of three two-part cases. In the first case, Detective Inspector Joseph Chandler (Rupert Penry-Jones) and DS Ray Miles (Phil Davis) of London's Whitechapel district investigate the slaughter of four people at a tailor's fortified workshop. This baffling crime appears to echo the Ratcliff Highway murders that took place 200 years ago.

Watch a trailer for the second season below.
