Telemystery, the most complete selection of detective, amateur sleuth, private investigator, and suspense television mystery series now available or coming soon to DVD

Telemystery, your source for one of the most comprehensive listings of crime drama, amateur sleuth, private investigator, mystery and suspense television series, mini-series and made-for-television movies, now available on or coming soon to DVD, Blu-ray disc, or Video-on-Demand, is profiling four series from our site being released this week.

Dead Man's Gun: Season One

Dead Man's Gun
Season One

This Showtime original series, narrated by Kris Kristofferson, aired for two seasons.

Set in the mythic old West, this first complete season uncovers the legend of a dead man's gun that grants whoever possesses it unforeseen powers, with usually dangerous results. As the pistol passes from person to person, the lives of those who possess it are forever transformed.

Dead Man's Gun: Season One on DVD

Also be released this week, the second and final season of the series. In the ultimate episode, "A Just Reward", the origin of the gun is revealed.

Dirk Gently: The Complete Series

Dirk Gently
The Complete Series

Meet Dirk Gently. He's poorly dressed, perpetually insolvent … and uncommonly good at solving mysteries.

As proprietor of the Holistic Detective Agency, Dirk follows methods that are, in his own words, based on an almost unswerving belief in the fundamental interconnectedness of all things. Affably played by Stephen Mangan, Dirk is aided and frequently irritated by his hapless assistant, Richard MacDuff (Darren Boyd). Together, they tackle cases ranging from a missing cat to a murder that may involve the Pentagon.

Based on the novels by Douglas Adams (The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy), Dirk Gently follows the detective as he spins coincidences into explanations for seemingly unsolvable mysteries. Although he's regarded as a mere con man by some, Dirk often delivers astonishing results with his unusual tactics.

Highway Patrol: Season Two

Highway Patrol
Season Two

Packed with fast motorcycles, powerful patrol cars, helicopters and two-way radios, this syndicated crime drama from the late 1950s screamed onto the scene destined to be one of the most popular television series of all time.

Starring Broderick Crawford as Dan Mathews, the head of a police force in an unidentified Western US state (though clearly set in California), this action packed show filled with harrowing roadway adventures sped its way from the TV screen into pop culture with the catch phrase "10-4".

Highway Patrol: Season Two on DVD

Also being released this week, the third and fourth (and final) seasons of the series.

Highway Patrol Season Three

The Killing: Season Two

The Killing
Season Two

After failing to close the case on "Who Killed Rosie Larson?" in the first season of this murder mystery, a poorly thought-out tactic which nearly cost this series its entire viewership, homicide detectives Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder resume their investigation into murder of a Seattle teenager, only to discover it may be part of a larger, more explosive conspiracy. As the case unfolds, it triggers shocking revelations and stunning twists that will keep you guessing until the riveting season conclusion … when the killer of Rosie Larsen will finally — finally — be revealed.

Based on the Danish television series Forbrydelsen, this season aired on AMC during late Spring 2012. The series was canceled (not surprisingly) by the network, but a complicated arrangement with NetFlix has resulted in an agreement for a third season, which premieres June 2nd, 2013 on AMC.
