MystereBooks: This Week's Update of Kindle Crime Fiction Priced $2.99 or Less (121222)

MystereBooks: Mystery, Suspense, and Thriller eBooks

Every month Amazon publishes a list of 100 Kindle books priced $3.99 or less. We thought we'd take that idea and improve on it, publishing a list of 100 Kindle mystery books priced $2.99 or less and updating it every week!

Here is our general criteria for selecting titles to include: books from major or specialty publishers of crime fiction and those written by authors familiar to us. There are far more than 100 to choose from, so we use our best judgment to narrow it down.

And just a reminder … as we add new titles, older ones are removed from the list. These books aren't likely to be repeated, so we encourage you to check in frequently!

A couple of notes before we get started …

• Bloomsbury has 10 or so of its "Bloomsbury Reader" editions of out-of-print mysteries available for $1.99; the regular price is $7.99. We haven't included these on our list, but you can use this link to see them on Amazon.

• Some of these titles — especially those that are also available from Kobo and/or iTunes — were mentioned earlier this week in separate posts featuring discounted mystery ebooks.

And now on to today's rather lengthy update!

Review: Mixed Signals by Jane Tesh

Mysterious Reviews: Reviews of New Mysteries, Novels of Suspense, and Thrillers

A Mysterious Review of …

Mixed Signals by Jane Tesh. A David Randall, Grace Street Mystery.

Review summary: The murder investigation here is sort of lost amongst the activities of all the colorful characters. They are quirky, to be sure, but in a sort of natural manner. It's a pleasant mystery that demands little, offering a welcome change of pace for the reader. (Click here for text of full review.)

Telemystery: AMC Renews The Walking Dead for a 4th Season

Telemystery: Mystery and Suspense on Television

AMC renewed its hit series The Walking Dead for a fourth season today … but the news was overshadowed with the announcement that its current showrunner will be departing. The Los Angeles Times has a number of statements from various parties on the change and what it means, if anything, to the series.

Based on the graphic novels by Robert Kirkman, Tony Moore, and Charlie Adlard, the series stars Andrew Lincoln as sheriff's deputy Rick Grimes, who awakens from a coma to find the world dominated by zombies. Setting out to find his family, he finds he is not alone and that others have survived the apocolypse.

The Walking Dead is currently on its mid-season break, and will return with new episodes on Sunday, February 10th, 2013.

Kirkman, together with Jay Bonansinga, have recently co-written two novels (to date) featuring the characters, the second of which was published this past October (details below).

Review: The Other Woman by Hank Phillippi Ryan

Mysterious Reviews: Reviews of New Mysteries, Novels of Suspense, and Thrillers

A Mysterious Review of …

The Other Woman by Hank Phillippi Ryan.

Review summary: This novel of suspense includes a cast of diverse, yet distinct, characters to tell a compelling story. Two stories, actually, which eventually merge. And while it isn't a surprise they are linked, it is a surprise in the manner they are. Possibly — and hopefully — the first of series. (Click here for text of full review.)
